Lesson 24 of 69 · A2, Unit 1: Daily life
House and home
Most Germans in cities rent rather than own, and flat adverts use a shorthand worth knowing: a 3-Zimmer-Wohnung has three rooms not counting kitchen and bathroom. Kaltmiete is rent without heating and bills; Warmmiete includes them.
This lesson gives you the rooms and furniture, plus es gibt (there is/are) to describe what a place has.
By the end you can:
- name the rooms of a home and common furniture
- describe your home with es gibt and haben
- understand the basics of a flat advert
