Lesson 66 of 69 · B1, Unit 4: Practice and stories

A job interview

A German job interview (das Vorstellungsgespräch) is usually formal: Sie throughout, a firm handshake, and punctuality. Expect questions about your qualifications, experience, and why you want this particular job.

This lesson combines the perfect tense (Ich habe ... gearbeitet), subordinate clauses (weil, dass), Konjunktiv II for polite questions, and seit + present for experience you still have.

By the end you can:

  • introduce yourself and your experience in an interview
  • explain why you want the job and what you can offer
  • ask polite questions about the role and conditions
