Lesson 47 of 69 · A2, Unit 5: Grammar milestones
Reflexive verbs
Reflexive verbs take a pronoun that refers back to the subject: Ich wasche mich (I wash myself). Many German verbs are reflexive where English ones aren't: sich beeilen (to hurry), sich erinnern (to remember), sich setzen (to sit down).
The reflexive pronouns are the accusative ones, except er/sie/es/sie/Sie, which all use sich: mich, dich, sich, uns, euch, sich.
By the end you can:
- conjugate reflexive verbs with the right pronoun
- use common reflexive verbs from daily life
- use the dative reflexive with body parts: Ich putze mir die Zähne
