Lesson 41 of 69 · A2, Unit 4: Health, feelings, and people
Feelings and personality
Many feelings are reflexive verbs in German: sich freuen (to be pleased), sich ärgern (to be annoyed), sich langweilen (to be bored). Others use sein + adjective: Ich bin traurig, Ich bin nervös.
To describe character, use sein + adjective, and soften it with ziemlich (quite) or ein bisschen (a bit): Er ist ein bisschen schüchtern.
By the end you can:
- say how you feel with adjectives and reflexive verbs
- describe someone's personality
- react to someone else's news with sympathy or pleasure
