Lesson 42 of 69 · A2, Unit 4: Health, feelings, and people
Friends and relationships
German distinguishes ein Freund (a friend) from mein Freund (usually 'my boyfriend'). For a friend who is a man, say ein Freund von mir or ein guter Freund. Acquaintances are Bekannte.
This lesson also covers verbs with prepositions that come up when talking about people: sich verlieben in (fall in love with), verheiratet sein mit (be married to), sich treffen mit (meet up with).
By the end you can:
- describe your relationships with friends and partners
- use verbs with fixed prepositions like sich verlieben in
- talk about meeting up and keeping in touch
