Hobbies and free time
The verb + gern pattern from A1 is your main tool here: Ich lese gern. Ich spiele gern Fußball. Add lieber (rather) and am liebsten (most of all) to compare: Ich schwimme gern, aber ich laufe lieber.
Clubs — der Verein — are central to German free time. There's a Verein for almost everything: football, choir, hiking, chess, gardening.

- talk about how often you do your hobbies
- invite someone to join you
